It’s been a while since we’ve seen Metallica on the Grammy stage, but the band intend on making an impression with their upcoming appearance. Guitarist Kirk Hammett tells Rolling Stone, “It’s gonna be completely insane.”

Buzz-generating collaborations have become commonplace at the Grammys and Metallica are partnered up with Chinese concert pianist Lang Lang for what’s sure to be one of the night’s highlights. Hammett revealed that the band will be performing their classic hit ‘One’ for the Grammy performance and that it will be something special.

He explained, “Lang Lang has interjected himself into the song in a way I don’t think anyone else has ever done in the course of our career. He’s going to be playing major parts of the songs. He’s going to be playing through the melody.” Hammett also revealed that they’ve already been working with Lang Lang on a demo of the song and that his contributions to ‘One’ definitely works. “He’s going to be weaving in and out of my guitar solos, which is amazing for me,” says Hammett. “I’ve never played with another instrument that’s been able to do that so effortlessly.”

The song choice is also a nod to the band’s Grammy past as ‘One’ was the first-ever recipient of the Best Metal Performance award back in 1990. Be sure to tune in to see Metallica’s performance with Lang Lang on ‘One’ on Sunday, Jan. 26. The 56th Annual Grammys will air at 8PM ET live from Los Angeles’ Staples Center on CBS.
