KLAQ Family Mourns Loss of Former DJ Rick “Mardi Gras” Madrigal

KLAQ family is mourning after the news of our brother Rick Mardi Gras passing.

KLAQ is heartbroken and shocked to learn the news that former KLAQ DJ and friend Rick "Mardi Gras" Madrigal was killed. El Paso Police have not identified Madrigal as the victim but Destination El Paso General Manager Bryan Crowe confirmed to KVIA that Madrigal was the victim.

Rick was the convention sales manager for Destination El Paso and before that, was a beloved DJ at KLAQ.

Crowe released the following statement:

"We are deeply saddened to learn that our employee and friend Richard (Rick) Madrigal was the victim of a homicide earlier today. Rick was a Sales Manager on our Convention and Meeting Development team at Visit El Paso and a promising and talented employee. Rick represented El Paso with a unique enthusiasm and energy that stemmed from the love and pride he had for his community. On behalf of myself, our management team and all the staff of Destination El Paso, Visit El Paso, El Paso Live and SMG, I express our sadness and our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues."
