Not Many El Paso Restaurants Get Perfect Health Scores
Of the El Paso area food businesses recently inspected, 33 got a perfect score of 100. Of those, only 4 were actual, open to the public, dine in restaurants.
The El Paso Department of Public Health inspects watches over the food handling of businesses all over El Paso County including El Paso, Anthony, Clint, Horizon City, Socorro and Vinton.
It's not just restaurants that fall under the El Paso Health Departments watch, they also monitor food practices at drug stores, coffee shops, convenience stores, gas stations and special events among others.
Of all the places in the most recent inspection, only 33 hit the bullseye by scoring a perfect 100 and just 4 of those were actual restaurants. The minimum passing score is 70.
A score of 60 or below will initiate the closure of the establishment. An inspection conducted on any given day may not represent the establishment's overall, long-term conditions. Restaurants that fail inspections are given an opportunity to address the violations for reinspection. - EPTimes
The 4 genuine food joints, (addresses from EP Times), were:
- Oasis Cafe, 9600 Sims Drive, inspected February 28th, 2024.
- Southwest Deli, 3123 Alameda Avenue, inspected February 27th, 2024
- Kiki's Restaurant, 2824 Mobile Avenue, inspected February 27th, 2024
- Neto's Burgers, 14417 Rudi Kuefner Drive, inspected February 28th, 2024
The others at the "top of the class" included liquor stores, day care centers, public schools, convenience stores and a seminary. That last one makes total sense ... I guess cleanliness really is next to Godliness.
At the other end of the spectrum, A & A Grocery And Meat Market, 500 W. L. Rider Street, failed their inspection with a 67.
