The Patriot Guard Riders were created in 2005 to protect the families of soldiers and veterans from insensitive jackasses protesting at military funerals.

They ride as escorts, act as flag bearers and protect the families from anyone wishing to cause a disturbance during the ceremonies. They offer their services ... at no cost ... to all fallen military, first responders and honorably discharged veterans.Their primary objectives are to:

1. Show our sincere respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their communities.
2. Shield the mourning family and their friends from interruptions created by any protester or group of protesters.

Patriot Guard Riders are all volunteers and, unfortunately, there aren't enough of them to honor all the requests they get. You do not have to have a motorcycle to participate, nor do you have to be active duty military or a vet. All you need is a willingness to honor fallen heroes and respect for their service.
