You can add RadioShack to the list of chain stores closing in the Borderland.

K-mart recently announced that they were going out of business and now, RadioShack is closing stores in El Paso and Las Cruces. Businessinsider.com reports El Paso's Bassett Center, Transmountain Drive and Lee Trevino locations will close.  A story at KFOX-tv.com added the following locations:

  • 1801 Zaragoza Road
  • 10705 Gateway West Blvd.
  • 8401 Gateway West Blvd. (Cielo Vista Mall)
  • 750 Sunland Park Drive (Sunland Park Mall)
  • 8500 Dyer St.
  • 700 Telshor Blvd. (Mesilla Valley Mall, Las Cruces)

Nationally, 365 locations will be closed. According to KFOX;

RadioShack plans to sell 1,500 to 2,400 stores and is seeking to close the remainder of its 4,000 U.S. stores. Wireless carrier Sprint plans to open mini-shops in as many as 1,750 of RadioShack's remaining stores.

K-mart, Sears and Macys department stores have also been closing all over the country.
