Peaches the Cockatoo songs like she’s had about all she can stand and is going to let everyone know about it.  Peaches used to belong to a couple who fought all the time and eventually divorced. But not before their pet picked up, if not some of their language, at least some of the general tone. Listen to the inflection and tell me this bird hasn’t been in the position of the little kid hiding with their teddy bear while his parents argue in an anti-domestic violence PSA.

You may not know this, but in the Upper Valley we have a resident flock of wild parrots. They usually hang out near the 17th tee box at El Paso Country Club. I am constantly amazed that these aren’t the most profane birds on the planet, what with the kind of language they’re used to hearing on a golf course.

“Brawwwk…G!@dammit to h&*%!”

“Brawwwwk…F%#4 me, when am I going to learn to f*&%ing hit a golf ball!!”

“Brawwwk….F&%* !!! Stay out of the water you M*$#!@ F%#*!@”

Sadly, the El Paso Country Club birds don’t really say anything. Maybe their keeping it all bottled up.
