Anthony, New Mexico has become the  first community in Doña Ana County to pass a "Social Host Ordinance". (SHO)

According to the Las Cruces Sun News, SHO's:

hold adults accountable for hosting underage drinking parties that are a threat to public health and safety, provide an additional tool for law enforcement to respond when parties get out of control, and support adults who are already doing the right thing. Anthony now joins hundreds of communities across the country that are using SHOs to reduce house parties and their consequences that we see too often in the news.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving is a strong supporter of these ordinances which, according to a 2016 Surgeon General's study, "reduce alcohol-related motor vehicle crashes and other alcohol-related problems."

These policies involve fining adults hosting parties where underage drinking occurs hence their motto; “Parents who Host Lose the Most”.
