A New Mexico man has been sentenced to nine years in prison for two armed robberies that he admits he committed.

And he might have gotten away with it too…if he hadn’t dropped his wallet at the scene of one of the crimes.

Deven Nieto pled guilty to the charges in the two armed robberies, though he and unnamed accomplices were originally wanted for a string of armed robberies.

As for the dropped wallet, yes: his photo ID was inside. Also, the receipts for the guns used in the robberies were also found in the wallet.  I

f we can assume there was a least SOME money in the wallet, we can make a case that Nieto is the worst criminal of 2023. He identified himself, linked weapons used in the commission of a crime to himself, AND left a few bucks extra for his victims and the cops. All in all, not bad police work…by the CRIMINAL.

There are some other weird facts about this case. Deven Nieto and his accomplices mostly targeted fast food places like Taco Bell.  Taco Bell’s not a bank…how much could they have possibly been hoping to get away with? A few hundred at most?

Also, for a low-level fast food joint stick-up, the robbers came fully loaded. The gun they used was an AK-47.

So, they were hitting a place that does most of their business for extremely small bills, they were using a G.D. machine gun to do it AND the dude left his wallet, driver’s license included at the scene.

If he could solve ALL crime as efficiently as he solved his he’d probably make a good district attorney. Anyway, he’ll have nine years to work on his law degree.
