Heads up folks!.

As of February 13th, 222 vehicle break-ins have been reported in the El Paso area. They're happening all over town so, no matter where you park, be sure you lock your car up tight and follow these tips.

  • Don't leave packages, purses or shopping bags where they can be seen. Put them in the trunk, the rear seat floor area or cover them.
  • Don't leave cash or change where it can be seen.
  • Get a stereo with a detachable face. It only takes a couple of minutes to jack a radio but, if thieves see the face missing, they'll most likely move on.
  • Remember to lock sunroofs and side vents. They're usually too tiny for thieves to get through but, they serve as a great starting point for entry.
  • Use alarms when possible and park in well-lit areas.

If you see any suspicious activity, call the El Paso Police Department at 832-4400 or Crime Stoppers of El Paso at 566-8477.
