Yesterday (June 3), we learned that GWAR vocalist Dave Brockie's cause of death was an accidental heroin overdose. The news spread quickly and garnered emotional reactions from fans around the world, one of which came from Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe...

It's with great sadness that we report the death of GWAR frontman Dave 'Oderus Urungus' Brockie. According to various sources, Brockie's body was found on the evening of March 23.

This is pretty awesome.  Gwar . . . the goofy heavy metal band with the crazy costumes . . . recently covered the Kansas classic "Carry On Wayward Son".

We recently had the honor of speaking with GWAR front-thing Oderus Urungus on film just minutes before going onstage at the Starland Ballroom in New Jersey.

During an interview from 2012′s Australia Soundwave Festival, Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe said he may lend his vocal talents on some solo tunes written by late GWAR axeman Cory Smoot (also known as Flattus Maximus).

Alien overlords GWAR have just revealed that they have been diligently jamming within their in-house studio to record demos for their next album. This will be GWAR’s first record following the death of guitarist Cory “Flattus Maximus” Smoot late last year.

You wouldn’t necessarily know it from listening to songs like ‘The Insidious Soliloquy of Skulhed Face’ or ‘The Master Has a Butt,’ but the members of GWAR are apparently huge film buffs. Well, okay, maybe that’s a bit of a stretch — but that didn’t keep lead singer Oderus Urungus and rhythm guitarist Balsac the Jaws of Death from reviewing Steven Spielberg’s ‘War Horse’ recently.

A cause of death has been determinged for GWAR’s late guitarist Cory Smoot (a.k.a. Flattus Maximus). According to North Dakota coroner William Masselo, Smoot died from a coronary artery thrombosis caused by a pre-existing coronary artery disease. He was discovered dead on GWAR’s tour bus on Nov. 3 at the age of 34.

After the shocking and tragic death of GWAR lead guitarist Cory “Flattus Maximus” Smoot, the metal world did was it does best — unite. A memorial benefit show has been put together in GWAR’s hometown of Richmond, Va. All proceeds from the benefit will be given directly to the Smoot family.
