Red Hot Chili Peppers took the stage at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., on Friday (May 4) for the first of two sold out shows, and the band took care to dedicate the show to Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys, who tragically  passed away mere miles away in his native New York earlier that day after a three-year bout with cancer.

MCA, aka Adam Yauch, has died, according to Russel Simmons' site, GlobalGrind.com. He was 47.

The Beastie Boys’ Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction was appropriately raucous, although somewhat bittersweet: Although Ad-Rock (Adam Horovitz), Mike D (Michael Diamond) and their long-time DJ Mix Master Mike appeared at the ceremony, Adam Yauch (aka MCA) was unable to attend.

I read on loud wire the other day where Guns N Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Beastie Boys are all going into the RnR Hall of Fame...well, they got it right for once!!

The 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class will feature three bands that have helped shape rock music over the past 25 years — Guns N’ Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Beastie Boys were all announced as inductees today (Dec. 7). The ceremony will take place April 14 at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland.
