We had a ton of fun at the River Raft Race this past weekend, and Super Mario spent some time building the KLAQ Morning Show raft for us. The El Paso Times came out and talked with Super Mario about his raft and his participation in the race.

"I did the last one in the '80s and it was a lot of fun.
"We built it out of milk cartons. We all got together one day with a bunch of milk cartons and we went to the Piggly Wiggly and bought all their glue.
"Who knew glue and water don't mix?"

Courtney Nelson also gave a little background on the River Raft Race and it's return to El Paso.

"It was always so wildly popular with everybody," said Courtney Nelson, the operations manager and program director for Regent Broadcasting of El Paso, which operates KLAQ and two other stations. "Everybody kept asking about it. 'Remember the River Raft Race? Remember it back in the day?'
