It seems like El Paso is undergoing a complete makeover these days.

There are new buildings going up, old buildings coming down and I don't think there's a stretch of road anywhere in town that's not being repaired, repaved or widened.  (Or having one of those stupid roundabouts installed.)  Now, on top of all that, Fort Bliss has announced they are starting work on five all access entrance gates.

An El Paso Times article says they're installing visitor control centers, widening roadways and more at the following gates:

  • Buffalo Soldier
  • Chaffee
  • Sheridan
  • Bigga Army Airfield Main
  • Old Ironsides

The best time to use these gates appears to be between 5am and 9am daily, when work should be minimal.  Drivers can expect longer wait times and heavier than normal traffic.  If you have a Department of Defense ID card, Ft. Bliss officials recommend that you guys use the military only gates.
