Sept. 16 is #NationalTattooStoryDay, where people tell the story behind one of their tattoos. Here's the story behind one of mine.

Ever since I was little, reading has been a big part of my life. I always travel with a book in my purse, in case I get a little time to read. This is a trait my father passed on to me, and one he does everyday. My dad always had a book on him so at dinner, my dance practices and more places where he could read. To be honest, he would read then sleep until my mom woke him up at my dance recitals for my performance. Then, he'd go back to sleep.

Even when I was in elementary school, I would go to the library with him and we would pick out new books to read. I adored the library. So many different books and adventures you could go on. I would always head straight to the science fiction/ fantasy section. My dad would then take me every week with him to get new books, since I could only check out three at a time, and would finish them all by the end of the week.

In middle school, I was introduced to the Harry Potter books and fell in love with the magic and adventure. The books made me cry, laugh and gave me always the feeling of hope.  When I decided I wanted to get my third tattoo, I wanted something that would honor my father and our shared love of reading. I immediately knew I wanted a Harry Potter tattoo. In the first book, Dumbledore speaks to Harry in front of the Mirror of Erised and tells him:

"It does not do to dwell on dreams, and yet forget to live."

This quote always stuck with me, reminding me to not only dream big but to remember to live while I chased those dreams. I found an amazing artist at the Texas Showdown Festival and got it done about two years ago. I adore this tattoo and love being able to show off my Harry Potter tattoo, complete with a deathly hallows in the corner.

That's my story behind one of my tattoos. Share your own in honor of #NationalTattooStoryDay
