Japan’s Newest Metal Band is Surprisingly Okay – Meet BabyMetal

Japan comes out with the strangest things sometimes. Well, let's be honest, most of the time. Now, they have mashed together teenie bop pop with Metal music and surprisingly, it rocks! 

BabyMetal is a Japanese Pop grip that turned metal. The name BabyMetal came from the creator of the group playing off of their angelic looks and their hard style of music. All three girls had no idea what metal music was before they were put into the group. They were originally formed under another girl group called "Sakura Gakuin." Sakura Gakuin is a group of girls whose lineup is always changing. Once a girl leaves junior high school, she then has to leave the group as well. Because of BabyMetal's popularity, the group was allowed to stay together and tour, even after leaving junior high.

Baby Metal just released their first single, "Gimme Chocolate" and you can buy their album on iTunes. It also hit number 1 on iTunes Heavy Metal chart. Not too bad for girls barely in high school!
