RECALL ALERT: Texas Among Milk Recall That Can Cause Dangerous Reaction!
Milk. It does a body good… unless it’s been recalled for causing dangerous reactions!! *Gasps in Spanish* So, heads up Texas milk lovers because you may have dangerous milk in your fridge!
What Milk Is Being Recalled?
A nationwide recall has been issued for several containers of Lactaid milk after a surprising discovery—traces of almonds! Yup, you read that right.
According to a statement from the FDA, routine maintenance uncovered almond traces in a variety of Lactaid milk products.
The problem?
Almonds are not listed on the label, which could spell trouble for anyone with an almond allergy. Tree nuts are one of the top allergens, and FDA regulations require that any food containing allergens like nuts be properly labeled. This slip-up is no small deal for those who are allergic to nuts!
The recall affects 96-ounce containers of Lactaid milk that were shipped to retailers across 27 states between September 5 and September 18. If you've got Lactaid in your fridge, check for the code 51-4109 P2 on the top center of the jug, just to be safe.
Wondering which varieties of Lactaid are involved?
Everything from Whole Milk to Fat-Free Milk is on the list. The best-by dates range from late November to early December, so check your milk ASAP.
The units affected by the recall include the code 51-4109 P2 labeled on the plastic containers, and were shipped to the following states between Sept.5-18, 2024:
- Alabama
- Colorado
- Connecticut
- Florida
