Indie Electro Pop Duo, Phantogram, Coming to This Texas City
Indie electronic pop duo Phantogram is gearing up to electrify El Paso, Texas at Lowbrow Palace on August 19th and you are invited to party on a Monday night with them!
With roots in New York, Sarah Barthel and Josh Carter have made waves in the music scene, teaming up with Big Boi from OutKast on the 'Big Grams' EP and landing their track “K.Y.S.A” on the Grand Theft Auto V soundtrack.
Ahead of their highly anticipated performance in the borderland, Sarah and Josh shared some exciting insights with our intern Al during a one-on-one Zoom chat.
What are your hopes for this show?
“Our hopes are to- when we play live- we like to put on a real experience for the audience and have a connection with the crowd. That’s my goal. Make it a real experience. When you go to a Phantogram show, it’s not just seeing a band. It’s a real experience that you go home afterwards and think about.” Josh says.
“I mean, you hit the nail on the head there, Josh. I agree with you fully. I like giving people experiences and things that they can look back on and find a connection to art and audio, and visual. And emotion. And it’s kind of what we like to represent.” Sarah responds.
What are your words of encouragement for anyone considering attending the show?
“I would encourage them to just come to the show.” Josh answers candidly. We all have a laugh and Sarah responds in a high tone, “Yeah, just come to the show and put your fuckin’ phones away! And be present. I think words of encouragement are: be present. Be present in all of your life. In any scenario.”
Josh solidifies her statement by saying, “Sarah, you hit the nail on the head with that. In life, be present. At Phantogram shows, be present.”
As a bonus question we asked Sarah if it’s really true that she is left-handed.
“Yeah, it’s true! It’s true and it sucks! I hate it. It’s something that only lefties know. The pain and strife we go through. Being sarcastic, of course. But it is a right handed world, it is kind of annoying.”
As a fellow leftie, I undoubtedly know exactly what she’s talking about.
Tickets can be purchased at lowbrowpalace.com. Doors open at 6:30pm, show at 7:30pm.
