Guided public tours of the dinosaur track site near Mt. Cristo Rey were suspended in 2020 when Covid first tried to make us go the way of the dinosaurs, but First Saturday DinoTracks Tours are back.

Dinosaurs in the Borderland

Fact: dinosaurs used to call home what is now Sunland Park, New Mexico some 80 million to 100 million years ago. And those giant lizards straight out of the Cretaceous period left behind acres and acres of fossilized dinosaur tracks around the Mount Cristo Rey area that you can still see evidence of today.

The prehistoric impressions, including massive trackways where it looks as though a herd of dinosaurs passed through, was discovered by a UTEP geology student in 2002.

DinoTracks Tour Takes You Where Dinosaurs Walked

On the first Saturday of the month, Insights El Paso Science Center tour guides will take you on a 2-and-a-half-hour, 3-mile fun, active, and educational hike along the same path the dinosaurs once walked.

The hikes take place on the first Saturday of every month. The next scheduled tours are March 4 and April 1, 2023.
