Boat Crashes In Alaska, Family Remains Lost At Sea

As reported by KWTX, in Alaska the Coast Guard was alerted to the boat capsizing Saturday evening near the time of 7 PM. On the boat in question were eight individuals, which four of them, unnamed at the time of writing, were rescued. However, the other four members onboard the ship, the Maynard family, were not located.

A post to social media asked for prayers as the search for the family was ongoing:

However, later on the night of August 4th, 2024, the search was suspended by the Coast Guard. KCEN reports that, per Shannon Kerney a U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer, the search was postponed for this reason:

"Any time we make a decision to suspend a search and rescue case is a very difficult one to make...Cases that are suspended, they're only suspended pending the development of new information. If anything comes to light, any new information that we get, we're more than happy and willing to go out and continue our search. Our hearts are definitely with the families right now as they grieve."

For those wishing to assist, KWTX has reported that an account for donations has been made. It has been established at Killeen Citizens National Bank, which is located at 1711 Central Texas Expressway, Suite 301.

As this is a developing story, we will have more information when it becomes available.
