2 Young Horrified Children Witness Texas Man Murder Their Mother
A Texas father is behind bars after police find a mother and daughter dead after hearing gunshots coming from a bedroom.
DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE CALL
Police were called to an apartment complex in Garland, Texas after calls came in for a domestic disturbance. Around 8 am police walked up to the door of an apartment unit that had been forcefully opened.
As officers moved in to remove the children from harm's way, they were suddenly put on guard. Multiple gunshots blasted from behind a closed door in the back of the unit.
“While [officers] were there, they heard gunshots coming from inside the apartment, an unknown location inside the apartments,” said Garland Police Lt. Pedro Barineau.
POLICE DISCOVER DEAD BODIES
The officers on the scene quickly grabbed the children and took cover. They yelled out commands to an unidentified suspect who was still behind the closed door.
“After the shots stopped, they heard a male voice speaking and that person was arrested as a shooter.”
Soon after a 35-year-old man identified as Brodrick Earl Kennedy surrendered and came out of the bedroom. Police quickly inspected the room and discovered the bodies of two women.
One woman, 38-year-old Donillie Lashay Kennedy, was identified as the suspect's wife. The other victim was 58-year-old Shirley Jean Phillips, who has been identified as Donillie's mother. One victim was declared deceased at the scene and the other was hospitalized but later died of her injuries.
ARRESTED AND CHARGED
Kennedy is currently being held in the Garland Detention Center and has been charged with capital murder.
