Weird But True: Texas’ Strangest World Records Revealed
People make a big deal out of world records, as they should. It takes a lot of talent, grit, and hard work to become the holder of a world record...usually. There are those records that you hear about and you can't help but scratch the top of your head and wonder why someone would do such a thing. Out of the insane number of world records that the Lone Star State has claimed, here are some of the weirdest that call Texas home.
What Goes Into Holding A World Record
Holding a world record is no simple feat. One of the hardest parts is meeting the strict requirements that exist when it comes to claiming a record. There are strict requirements when it comes to measurements and documentation before your title can be held.
That's what makes these records so hard to deal with. Someone went through the pain of making sure the documentation and measurements were done correctly. No mistakes were made. Planning was done. The end result in these cases is a world record that I doubt anyone ever tries to take away.
What Are The Strangest World Records Held By Texas?
The Guinness Book of World Records website is a treasure trove of info. You can search through all the world records that have been awarded. Texas turns up a massive number of results when you search for records. Looking through those records, these are the ones that made my jaw drop.
- Most Eggs Crushed By Toes In 30 Seconds
- Most Prolific Cat
- Largest Collection of Sonic The Hedgehog Memorabilia
- The Oldest Adoption
- Widest Tongue
- Fastest Escape From A Straitjacket While Sword Swallowing
- Largest Feet On A Living Person
Some of these just make you want to know how the person found out they had such a talent. For instance, how in the hell do you decide to become the world record holder for escaping a straitjacket while sword-swallowing? What is the thought process behind something like that? What about crushing eggs with your toes? How do you decide that's going to be your legacy?
I'm glad we have a bunch of world records in the Lone Star State. You just have to wonder what was going through someone's mind when they applied to have their name go down in history.
