Mountain Lion Caught On Film In Residential Laredo, Texas

A video recorded in Laredo, Texas made its way to social media earlier this month. In the video, you can see what obviously looks like a mountain lion making its way through a residential neighborhood. The video ends when the big cat climbs a fence and disappears into a backyard. You can see the video below. Heads up; it contains explicit language.

It's terrifying to imagine stepping out of your house to be confronted by a mountain lion. They're massive and can move a lot quicker than most of us on our best day. It's crazy to think that this isn't the first sighting in Texas this year of a mountain lion in a residential area. The sightings are being attributed to drought conditions and close proximity to ranchlands.

Tragic End For The Laredo Mountain Lion

Unfortunately, the mountain lion in Laredo had to be put down. According to reports, authorities were able to locate the mountain lion. Supposedly it became aggressive, and given the fact that it was in a residential neighborhood, it was killed to protect those in the area. It's a tragic end to the story, and one that authorities were hoping could be avoided.

Mountain lion sightings are nothing new to Texas. There are tons of stories about mountain lions from one end of our state to the other. What's different about these recent sightings is that they aren't out in the wild. They're in residential neighborhoods. Hopefully, something changes soon for the sake of the people living in areas known to be home to mountain lions, and for the sake of the animals.
