At Least 90 Texas School Districts Have Moved to a 4-Day-Week
As we close in on another school year, the topic of 4-day school weeks start to trending again. More school districts in Texas moving to four-day-school weeks. KXAN, reports that at least 90 school districts across Texas have now switched to four-day school weeks. This is the state of Texas' effort to prevent teacher turnover!
Other districts have started to also explore a four-day-week with a hybrid schedule. According to the article, Abernathy ISD, Charlotte ISD, Chisum ISD, Decatur ISD, Gladewater ISD, Greenwood ISD Hillsboro ISD, North Lamar ISD, Paris ISD, and S&S CISD. have recently made the switch. Either for the 24/25 or 25/26 school year.
Not everyone is on board, Jasper ISD, is returning to a five-day schedule, after having a four-day schedule since 2022.

Many districts are hoping a shorter school week will improve attendance, and in turn, improve achievement! Districts propose the four-day instructional week and will use the fifth day for teachers to complete some of those additional tasks.

This is a social media post that has made the rounds a few times and I still think this is pretty cool. Check out this now-viral video and a photo showing a food court that appears to be in a mall. However, it is not. This is the cafeteria at Allen High School in North Texas. Mind you this is also the school that also boasts a $60 million football stadium that is out of this world.
