Study Lists Chicago, Washington DC Among Safest Cities in the World
Sure, polls and surveys can be weighted or even downright falsified. They come in handy when you want to brag though so, we keep reading them. I don't know what data these bozos used but, according to them, the top 5 safest American cities are New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles and Washington DC.
Really? Frisco may not be so bad but, should Chicago, New York and Washington DC be anywhere near the top of a "safest" list?
- Los Angeles. Kinda tame I guess compared to the next few cities but still a dangerous place, with West Hollywood being the worst area.
- Chicago was, a couple of years ago, named the murder capital. In 2014, more than 400 people were murdered there. This year, they say homicides are down but shootings are up. Hey, there's an improvement. More shootings, but fewer deaths. Yay, windy city.
- New York. Another former murder capital until Chicago passed them in 2013. Last year, they also tried the more shootings, less death spin. WTF causes that? Faster EMT response times? Are the bad guys losing their aim?
- Washington, D. C. Haa! Yep, a former murder capital. In 2012, they beat the national violent crime rate by over 200%. I can't find good 2014 numbers for some reason but, in early 2014, their murder rate had already doubled.
Interesting coincidence. Those cities are in states with some of the strictest, most hardcore anti-gun laws in the country. Chicago, finally, may be lightening up though. Want to see who, according to another survey, were the top 10 murder cities? Click here.
