A Chaparral lady owes thousands of dollars for doing the right thing.

A little dog, now known as "Dobie", was hit by a car and left for dead near Chaparral. After seeing a Facebook photo of him, dying by the roadside, Judy Bailey felt she had to act.

"... I have a dog of my own and she's like my baby. I can't see why anybody would just leave him here to die in the cold alone. He needed some love, that's why I had to pick him up."

Dobie's first night at the El Paso Animal Emergency Center came to $1,400. EPAEC's Amanda Hernandez told KFOX - TV they hold everyone financially responsible for animals they bring because:

"... we don't really know the history and we don't want people bringing in pets that they no longer want and trying to say they found this dog."

Costs will continue to rise and Judy Bailey is stuck paying them so, a GoFundMe page was set up to help her. Click here to donate or, contact EPAEC directly at (915) 545 - 1148.
