Ascarate Lake Stocked With Catfish

Good news for area fishing enthusiasts, there are a whole bunch of new catfish swimming around at Ascarate Lake!

The Texas Fish and Wildlife Department released 1,268 catfish into Ascarate Lake yesterday.  Fishing licenses can be purchased at most area sporting goods stores, check with your favorite store for pricing information as well as other rules and regulations. The El Paso Times reports that the fish "average 9 inches in length and were spawned at the Possum Kingdom Fish Hatchery in Graford, Texas."

Possum Kingdom should sound familiar to rockers as it is the setting for The Toadies 1994 hit "Possum Kingdom". A song about a lost spirit that haunts Possum Kingdom Lake, trying to lure someone else into joining him in the afterlife.
