Amanda Hurst was granted an emergency leave during the first of her two tours of duty when her husband was declared "unstable," and she arranged to leave her kids with her stepmom.

The stepmom, however, illegally took the kids from Florida to New Jersey and they wound up in foster care. Judges in both states agreed that the children belonged with Hurst but, Jersey wouldn't release them. Why? Because the Florida Department of Children and Families wouldn't agree to provide the same level of care as New Jersey. WTF??

If any of our military here in the Borderland ever experience problems like these, know that help is available via the National Military Family Association. Filing a Family Care Plan before you deploy is also a good idea. To learn more, click here or click here.
