San Antonio has long been a hotbed for Heavy Metal. (What are we here in El Paso? Chopped liver?) Now, it's getting some official acknowledgment!

Robb Chavez, host of Robb's Metalworks, will host the proceedings which will include a panel of native San Antonio rockers like Larry Barragan of HelstarBobby Jarzombek of JuggernautNacho Vara of Byfist and others.

The event was organized by the University of Texas at San Antonio, specifically, it's Institute of Texan Cultures. If you want to attend, you better get moving ... it's Saturday!! For more info and tickets, click here.

I wonder if they'll entertain questions like these from a Loudwire.com article on an Australian college offering PHD's in Heavy Metal...

  • What sorts of lyrical themes have Australian Metal bands adopted?
  • Are these culturally and geographically unique to the continent?"
  • "Is Heavy Metal in Australia largely a white phenomenon?
  • What has been the response to diversity within the scene?"

Substitute "San Antonio" for "Australia" and post your answers below.  Don't worry, I'll grade 'em on a BIG curve!!
