The application deadline for the El Paso Society for Musicians of the Future, (EPSMF), and the Instruments for Young Lives program is coming up quick.

Competition for Young Musicians applications must be postmarked by January 30th. According to the El Paso Times:

The competition is open to classical musicians for all instruments and voice, ages 8-19. Six finalists will be chosen. The winner, selected from among the finalists, will receive a $1,800 first prize and will perform in the EPSMF 2017 Summer Concert. The second place award is $700 and third place will receive $500. Finalists will be announced March 15.

Instruments for Young Lives program applications are due even sooner and must be postmarked by January 16th. The EP Times says the EPSMF:

partners with longtime business Olivas Music to award new musical instruments to students. Students will be selected on the basis of “exceptional classical musical talent,” financial need, academic achievement, discipline in music education and strength of character.
