Yes or BS – Sylvester Stallone Edition
Happy 70th birthday to Sylvester Stallone! Of course it's time for some fact or fiction for the man behind Rocky and Rambo.
- The newest Rocky movie Creed is the only one he didn't write.
- Yes - He also wrote all the Rambo movies, although the first one was based on a book. He also has writing credit for all three Expendables movies.
- He holds the record for most years between Oscar nominations for playing the same character.
- Yes - He was nominated for Rocky in 1977 and then for Best Supporting Actor in Creed, which is a 39 year gap. He didn't win either Oscar, but Rocky did win Best Picture.
- He's only 5 foot 5.
- BS - The Internet can't seem to agree on just how tall he is, but it's somewhere between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-10. Everyone thought he was super short because Dolph Lundgren towered over him in Rocky 4, but Lundgren is actually 6-foot-5.
- His brother Frank Stallone was in the original Rocky as a street singer, and their dad Frank Stallone Sr. was also in it.
- Yes - Frank Jr. played the street singer, and Frank Sr. played the time keeper who rang the bell between rounds.
- There was a broadway musical based on Rocky, but it only lasted 5 months.
- Yes - It opened in March of 2014 and closed that August.
