This week, the Sun Bowl Association and FirstLight Federal Federal Credit Union announced that WWE superstar Sin Cara would be the Grand Marshal for their 82nd annual Thanksgiving Parade. The choice could not be better, since the masked professional wrestler grew up in El Paso and still lives here with his family.

I was fortunate enough to interview Sin Cara three weeks ago when he came to the 600 ESPN El Paso Lube 'N Go Studios for SportsTalk. He has a terrific personality and he shared many stories with us from his younger days growing up in El Segundo Barrio. Like so many El Pasoans, he grew up a Miners fan and still remembers meeting Tim Hardaway and Antonio Davis from their college days at UTEP. He also had a passion for wrestling that fueled him to win a state title as a senior at Burges.

El Paso has been home to some terrific professional wrestlers, most notably the Guerrero family. Although Gory, Eddy, and Chavo Sr. are no longer with us, their legacy and contributions to wrestling helped pave the way for future stars like Sin Cara. The FirstLight Federal Credit Union Sun Bowl Parade is the perfect opportunity for hundreds of thousands of El Pasoans to line the streets of Montana Avenue and cheer on one of this city's great ambassadors.
