WTF Wednesday – Your Copy Machine Can’t Wait To Give Up Your Secrets

Sounds like a silly thing to say but, seriously, those things can give up lots of your private info. Worse, there's not much you can do about it!

These days, everybody and their mother has a copy machine.  Did you know that all those machines save all the data they copy?  According to a report by CBS, every copier made since 2002 could be holding tens of thousands of personal documents!

WTF?!?!

There are programs to erase your machines memory or you can pull/destroy the hard drive. What about everyone else's copier though?  Who last copied something important of yours? Bank? Doctor? Employer? School?

Schools are especially scary as they have your kids info!!  Being young, it will be years before they try and get a loan, or open a bank account. Thus, years before anyone realizes their identity has been stolen!

I'm not saying these people can't be trusted but, what do they do with their copiers when they're finished with them?

You might want to ask them that.........
