Whoever pays for this egg is going to shell out a lot of money.
The egg in question, which is 12 inches by eight inches, was found in Madagascar sometime in the late 19th century or early 1900s.
An official with Christie’s said, “The egg is the largest egg ever laid by any animal. They are bigger than dinosaur eggs. It was laid by a giant bird that lived on Madagascar. It went extinct somewhere around the 13th- to 17th century.”
The elephant bird reportedly was the largest bird to ever live, standing 11 feet tall and presumably had deep enough pockets to stuff all the bills needed to pay this egg.
