Woman Under Fire For Yelling at Baby in Portland Diner
The owner of Macy's Diner is not apologizing for her actions after upsetting plenty of people by yelling at a little girl. She's actually is defending her actions and saying those parents were lucky she didn't get crazier on them.
The little diner in Portland, Maine is attracting media attention as owner Darla Neugebauer took to Facebook to explain her side of the story. According to Darla, the parents ordered pancakes but refused to feed them to their daughter as she screamed for attention. That's when Darla took action and slammed her hands on the counter and yelled at the girl to be quiet.
As for the parents of the child Tara and John Carson, who spoke with WCSH6 were just visiting the town and decided to support the local business. They believe they can learn from the experience as Tara explained what happened to her daughter, "I turned to my daughter and I was like 'Listen, this is how I'm raising you not to be as an adult. Like, you will never be like this when you get older,'" she said. "I felt helpless as a mom that, you know, I couldn't do anything to help her, because I can't explain why there's crazy people in this world that behave like that."
It looks like Darla is pretty satisfied with her actions and the reactions she is receiving from others, "Life's full of choices and you've got to live with all of them. I chose to yell at a kid, it made her shut-up, which made me happy, it made my staff happy, it made the 75 other people dining here happy, and they left, they may never come back, other people may not come in. Their loss really," she said. If you get annoyed by children easily, this is probably a diner you could call home.
