As weird as that title is, the story and trial is even weirder.

Gayle Newland, 25, is from England and was recently charged with sexual assault against her friend. She lied to her friend and convinced her that she was a guy named Kyle. Newline said that the women were engaging in role-play, and they knew they were both females. Despite her explanation, she was found guilty of three sexual assault charges but cleared of two other counts of the same charge.

During the trial, she admitted to creating a fake Facebook profile under the name Kyle Fortune, and that is how the relationship began. The victim said she met "Kyle" back in 2011 online and they became friends. Kyle told her he couldn't see her because of injuries he suffered from a car accident and a brain tumor, but they did speak on the phone. The two finally met at a hotel under the condition that the victim wore a blindfold. Kyle told her he was embarrassed of his scars and didn't want her to see them.

After the initial encounter, the two spent more than 100 hours together in hotels and the victim's home. The assaults on the victim took place between February and June 2013. During their last sexual encounter, the victim finally took off her blindfold and say that Kyle was really Gayle Newland. Newline has been using a prothetic penis during the sexual assaults.

The victim told authorities that Gayle Newland had told her to use the blindfold, strapped bandages to her chest and wore a wool hat and swimsuit. Newland denied these allegations against her. Since she was charged with the crimes, it seems that the court believed the victim over Newland. The victim told the court that she always thought Kyle was a man but said, "in hindsight I wish I had ripped that mask off sooner."

The Judge Roger Dutton told Newland he believed she had "serious issues surrounding her personality". He also warned her that there could be "serious consequences" for her when she is finally sentenced in November. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like Newland understand the severity of her crime, yelling, "...how can you send me down for something I have not done?" at the judge. She then began crying saying she didn't understand.

Seems like this story is the ultimate example of Catfishing. You can read more about this story on the BBC website.
