A crazy ex-girlfriend made a fake distress call to 911 about a boat sinking, because her ex-boyfriend was on his, partying with beautiful ladies. Love makes you do crazy things.

According to federal prosecutors, 29-year-old Ashley Strum-Smith called in a false report to the United States Coast Guard of a ship taking on water in the Severn River on August 13, 2012.

She caused a huge problem by causing the "the Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Gloucester Fire Department, York County Fire Department, Mathews Fire Department and the United States Coast Guard” to head out to save the boat.

After two hours, they finally realized the call was a hoax.

She has plead guilty to the charges and faces a maximum penalty of six years imprisonment, a fine of $250,000 and $82,764 in restitution when she is sentence on October 20th, 2014 in Norfolk.
