Willie Nelson Being Honored By Library Of Congress
Texas country music icon Willie Nelson will be honored later this year with the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. He's to receive the prize this November in Washington, where he'll be the focus of a series of events. Nelson's music is being noted for pushing genre boundaries, and lyrics that give voice to America's heartland. Previous recipients include Stevie Wonder, Carole King and Paul McCartney.
Three Injured In Rollover Crash
Three people including a teenage boy are recovering from injuries following a rollover accident on I-10. It happened just before 7:00 p.m. last night between Fort Hancock and the border patrol check point. Police say a 15 year old boy was ejected from the vehicle in the crash. Police say two others were injured as well and all three were taken to University Medical Center.
Rep. Marquez Announces Retirement
State Representative Marisa Marquez is retiring. The El Paso Democrat announced yesterday she is retiring from the State House after eight years service to allow someone new to step into the role. She'll continue on in the House until 2017, when her term expires.
Huckabee Talks Border Security In Houston
Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee is talking immigration. He spoke to a crowd at Wilson Air Center in Houston Wednesday. The Republican Presidential hopeful announced his plan to close immigration holes allowing criminals to remain in the U.S. Huckabee also proposes securing the border with electronic fences.
