William Kyle Carpenter is a true American hero. In 2010 while serving in Afghanistan Carpenter saved the life of his friend by intentionally covering a grenade when they were standing guard. Both of them survived the blast, but were severely injured.

According to the Marine Corps Times, “Carpenter lost his right eye and most of his teeth, his jaw was shattered and his arm was broken in dozens of places”

A ceremony will take place June 19th at the White House to honor William Kyle Carpenter.

Thanks to everyone who serves our country here at Fort Bliss and all around the world!
