One person was killed and another injured in a shooting at an apartment complex near Texas Southern University in Houston on Friday, The Houston Chron reported.

The school was locked down following the shooting, which took place at about 11:30 a.m. at the Courtyard Apartments.

TSU officials said students were asked to remain in their classrooms and staff members told to stay in their offices.

As of 1 p.m. MT, police said the gunman remained at large.

According to police, Friday's shooting is the third in recent weeks on or near the school's campus, although they said it was unclear whether they were related. In a shooting on Tuesday night, a person was shot during an argument on campus, police said.

Houston police said on Sept. 26, a man fired a gun into a crowd of people at a TSU student apartment complex. Two people were injured, one critically, in that shooting.
