True Detective’s Michael Potts Talks Series Finale Theories In Interview
What do Buzz Adams and Barack Obama have in common? No, I wasn’t born in Kenya. We’re both big fans of the HBO series True Detective.
The president recently asked HBO if he could score advance copies of the show, which, if you haven't seen it, is kind of a cross between Silence of the Lambs and Dazed and Confused in that it’s about a serial killer and Matthew McConaughey is in it.
Today, actor Michael Potts who plays Detective Gilbough was on the Morning Show. We get some inside scoop on what’s coming up in the final two episodes and I shared my “Fight Club/ Cohle is Tyler Durden” theory.
He [McConaughey] is really on his game right now, I mean at the height. He is really that good. There is no comparison between now and his earlier years. It's just night and day what this man is putting out there.[/pullquotes]
In our interview, Potts said that when he gathered to watch the show's first episode with his friends and family that his "jaw literally dropped because I was overwhelmed at how good the show is. If I weren't on it, I would be hooked."
When asked about the recent transformation in McConaughey's acting, Michael said, "He is knocking it out of the park. I was asked the question last night by a fellow actor - 'Is he really that good? Was he really killing it when you guys were sitting there in the room?' and I had to say 'Absolutely.' He is really on his game right now, I mean at the height. He is really that good. There is no comparison between now and his earlier years. It's just night and day what this man is putting out there."
When asked about the identity of the Yellow King on the show, Michael said "That's the million dollar question. Everyone wants to know that. I have family threatening to disown me if I don't tell them. When people give me a theory, and I've heard 14 different theories, I tell them to wait and watch."
Make that 15 now, since Michael said he had yet to hear my Fight Club theory.
