Here at KLAQ getting the DJs up, sober and thinking at the crack of dawn isn't easy. That's why I'm here! My name is Yta.

I'm kind of in charge of making sure that nothing stupid happens here late at night and early in the morning when the DJs are feeling "challenged". I haven't yet posted at KLAQ.com so (since it doesn't look like anyone else is planning to) I figured today would be as good a day as any to start!

I am what you may call a movie fanatic...okay, okay...a HUGE movie fanatic! Obsessive compulsive movie savant seemed to wordy. So, as I was looking through my wall of movies I picked my top 5 movies with rocking soundtracks. Mind you, this was not an easy task for I could start my own movie store with my inventory. I am NOT including biopics for the simple reason that they tend to be ... duh ... all songs by the same artist. THAT is another blog altogether!

To begin I have an honorable mention for an awesome soundtrack. It only gets an HM because I'm not really sure if it counts as a sounstrack or an album.  Sort of like the classic "what came first; the chicken or the the egg" riddle.  (Rumor has it it was the album ... and the rooster.) Either way, it's a "must have"!  Pink Floyds "The Wall". The part where he's sitting on the chair and the lamp turns into a woman/monster/Jonathon Davis mic stand ... crazy!!!

Starting at #5:

The Matrix: Apart from the movie being extremely trippy and full of action, the music is amazing. Me with the little martial arts that I know, would love to fight like Keanu Reeves to Rage Against the Machine!

#4

Death Proof: Quentin Tarantino has proven time and time again that he has a knack for making hot chicks die. He's also pretty good at picking his music.  C'mon .. It's the lime and salt on your hornitos!  Hot girls, lap dances, car chases AND tunes!?  What more can you ask for?  My favorite; Going (get it??) "Down in Mexico".

#3

Detroit Rock City: I must have watched this movie a thousand times (I know it word for word). I even went through a similar situation with a friend of mine trying to go see Kiss live in West Palm Beach, Florida. So I can relate! The name of the movie says it all...and the song rocks it out...along with many others that I have mastered on the air guitar. (oh yeah!)

#2

Dazed and Confused: Hey, EVERYONE knows this movie..and loves it. The music selection for this hilarious movie is very well picked. My favorite part? The end of the movie when Mitch puts on his headphones and smiles. Classic!!

And now for my #1 ..... Ready?

SuckerPunch: This one, and its soundtrack, are a MUST!  Babydoll, Amber, Blondie, Rocket and Sweet Pea mix fantasy with reality while reminding us that the mind is indeed the greatest weapon!  Featuring guns, explosions, sexy outfits and fighting; it soooo rocks! All set to these remastered ("re-deranged" if you will) classic rock anthems!  My favorites?  "Tomorrow Never Knows" originally by the Beatles (performed by Alison Mosshart and Carla Azar) and my favorite "White Rabbit,” originally by Jefferson Aeroplane, performed by Emiliana Torrini. Did I mention that I'm also a HUGE Alice In Wonderland geek?

Well, there you have it, my top five + one!  If you haven't seen them yet,  watch 'em asap.  Then listen to them!!

For now, care to follow me down the rabbit hole?
