A shooting in El Paso’s lower valley leave one man dead and another one recovering from gunshot wounds he sustained in an apparent drive by shooting.

The shooting occurred at around 1 am this past Saturday in the 300 block of Marisol Street in El Paso’s Lower Valley.

When police arrived they discovered that the two victims were transported by friends to Del Sol Medical Center.

One victim police describe as a 38-year old man died at the hospital from the gunshot wounds.

The other victim a 24-year-old male is currently being treated for a gunshot wound but is expected to survive according to police.

Two people are dead after a two motorcycle crash on Saturday. The two drivers have been identified as Cody Wones, 24 and Gabriel Ortega, 27.

The two motorcycles approached the intersection of Tierra Dorada, Wones crashed into the back of Ortega’s motorcycle which caused both men to be thrown from their motorcycles. Both men were wearing helmets but died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.

Police say speed and alcohol are factors. These are the 56th and 57th traffic-related deaths of 2014 compared to 45 at this same time last year.

A 12-year-old Cleveland boy is dead after he refused to drop a BB gun police thought was a real weapon. Police were called to a recreation center over the weekend and found Tamir Rice holding what appeared to be a large caliber pistol. An officer shot the boy in the stomach Saturday afternoon when he refused to put down what turned out to be an airsoft-style replica.
