Ever want to be on the Titanic? I mean, other than the iceberg crash and death. But it would be kind of cool to be on an exact replica, right?

Well coming up in 2018 you'll be able to. Although this is actually two years after it's original launch date, it is still happening. Australian Billionaire Clive Palmer has funded a fully functional replica of the ship the sank back in 1912, killing 1,500 people.

Of course the new Titanic will have updated features. The new ship will be 4 meters wider than the original and will be welded, not riveted to meet today's maritime safety regulations. "The new Titanic will of course have modern evacuation procedures, satellite controls, digital navigation and radar systems and all those things you'd expect on a 21st century ship," said James McDonald, the global marketing director of Palmer's company Blue Star Line.

Titanic II, which will offer first, second and third-class tickets, will have nine floors and 840 cabins capable of accommodating 2,400 passengers and 900 crew members. The maiden voyage of the replica will not be the same as the original Titanic. Instead of going from Southampton to New York, Titanic II will depart from Jiangsu, China, to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, where Blue Star Line has been forging business partnerships.

The building of the ship was announced back in 2012. State owned Chinese shipyard CSC Jingling has been contracted out to build the ship. And while some family members of the original ships passengers have said that building the replica is insensitive, the feedback for the new boat has been mostly positive.
