Do you remember when the El Paso Humane Society was featured on National Geographic? It was over 8 years ago when animal Rescuers Loretta and Sherry discussed their tough mission.

In 2010 the El Paso Humane Society was featured on National Geographic. El Paso was featured due to the high percentage of abandoned animals in the city. The animal control has scooped up over 24,000 animals in a year. Loretta and Sherry have the toughest job to do when saving animals.  Imagine having to decide what animal you will take and leave behind when you just wish you could take them all. It is pretty sad to know how high our city has a high number of abandoned dogs. In the United States, over 35% of cats are considered strays. The common reason as to why pets are abandoned is because the residence doesn't allow pets.

Remember adoption is key to lower the abandoned animal percentage!
