There’s More to White Sands than Just Sand
Millions of people visit White Sands National Park to admire it's beauty and to sled down the monster sand dunes.
That's not all you can do though:
- Chill in the park under a full moon. Pets are welcome too!
- You can also hike or ride your bike around the park during full moons. The dunes kinda glow in the moonlight, creating a beautiful experience
- "Skins and Skulls". Rangers use pelts and skulls and things to give you a close look at some normally hard to spot desert critters.
- Learn the history of White Sands from park rangers.
- Guided, sunrise hikes for amateur photographers. These are only offered twice a year though so, check the dates!
- Once a month, tours of Lake Lucero...an ancient, dry lakebed...are offered.
- They have their own Balloon Festival.
Not to mention picnics and more. These activities, and the park hours, are subject to change so call ahead (575-479-6124) or visit the parks website before heading out.
