Intern Emily and I went to check out the new El Paso Triple A baseball team's merchandise store. Three days into the Chihuahuas store being open and it was still full of people! We asked fans some questions about the team and got some photos of the brand new baseball gear you can buy now! You better hurry, the merchandise is selling faster than anyone imagined.

Once the name of the baseball team was announced, there has been a lot of talk of how the name isn't a good representation of El Paso. Online polls from KVIA show that an overwhelming amount of El Pasoans are not happy with the team name (94%). We decided to go to the team store to see if there were any people out there who were excited about the team name and ready to support it.

The first thing I noticed was the amount of merchandise the store had! There was everything in there, from shirts, hats, jackets, novelty items and more. Most things came in the team colors of red and black, but they also catered to the female perspective with versions of baseball classics in pink. While I was there, I saw a little girl who was so excited to get her brand new white and pink chihuahuas hat.

One of the things I really liked about the merchandise at the store was the high quality you were getting for your money. The hats are the New Era, '47 Brand and even the Nike Dri Fit so you aren't getting anything poorly made. These are extremely good quality and something you would be happy to wear.

Even if you're not ready to proudly wear the your chihuahua on your clothes, there are tons of other random items you can buy that have the little dog on them. There are novelty bats, balls, teddy bears, cups and the always necessary foam fingers. So you can still show your pride at a smaller level.

When you go into the store you see tons of merchandise all over the walls but you can see signs that some things may run low. As soon as they are able to restock items on the shelves, they are taken off just as fast. Customers are buying multiple items at once and having to ask for certain sizes form the back. The most impressive are the online sales, which according to Minor League Baseball and KVIA, El Paso's team is on its way to being one of the highest selling team's after an unveiling. Also the places where people are ordering from is all over the United States and in other countries. So even if you don't like our little chihuahua, he seems to be quite the popular guy.

After being downtown and seeing the new store, I can't help but get really excited. The feeling downtown right now is one of excitement and hope. You see people riding their bikes and walking down the street, all in their new chihuahuas shirts and hats. People are coming into the store to shop, socialize and support the new team. If these good vibes are any indication of what the baseball stadium will do for downtown, I think we are all going to owe Steve Kaplowitz and Duke Keith an apology.

The store is at 303 N. Oregon St., Suite 120, El Paso, Texas 79901. The store is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can also call the store at 915-504-6340.

Here are some fans who just bought some new chihuahua merchandise from the new store and what they had to say about the new baseball team.
