The Babadook has received great reviews and been in my Netflix cue for awhile now. So Friday night, Buzz and I sat down to see what all the hoopla was about. I must say, it was a pretty good movie. Not sure I would classify it as great, but definitely worth a watch.

Something that I have always done during movies, TV show, or really life in general, is make very odd observations or relations with things. Here are some of my random observations about The Babadook.

  • Rando-Observation 1:

The kid in The Babadook is probably one of the best forms of birth control. If you’ve ever been out in public and seen that parent(s) dealing with that super obnoxious, unruly kid and thought to yourself “That just looks horrible,” that sums up this kid pretty good.

  • Rando-Observation 2:

Throughout the entire movie, every time they showed their staircase, I could not stop thinking about the staircase from Beetlejuice. I was fully expecting the railing to turn into a black and white striped snake.

  • Rando-Observation 3:

If you are a fan of The League on FX like I am, every time “Ba-ba Dook-dook-dook” is said you will think of Bobbum Man.

  • Rando-Observation 4:

Throughout the whole movie, I kept thinking I knew there was something the Babadook reminded me of. Once it was over, Buzz came through in the clutch.  The Babadook looks like Mr. Hyde from the old Looney Tunes episode Hyde and Hare.
