Governor Says Texas Is On Guard Against The Feds

Governor Abbott is ordering the Texas State Guard to monitor an upcoming elite military operation called "Jade Helm 15."  Abbott's order comes on the heels of comments from radio talk show host Alex Jones who claims the upcoming military operation is part of a federal plot to declare martial law and seize control of several southwestern states. The operation is scheduled to run from mid-July through mid-September in seven states from California to Texas.

Police Search For Sexual Child Abuse Suspect

More information is coming to light about the El Paso Couple facing charges of sexually abusing an eleven-year-old boy and seven-year-old girl.   Antonio and Sandra Huerta have cared for 36 foster children, and more victims may be forthcoming.  According to ABC-7 the Huertas have been investigated more than a dozen times in the past ten years.  Meanwhile, 55-year-old Sandra Huerta has already been arrested, but her 62-year-old husband is still on the loose.

One Victim Is Dead Following Train Collision

One person is dead and another has been injured following a head-on collision of two freight trains south of Roswell, New Mexico.  Authorities say a Southwestern Railroad train was traveling southbound when it crashed into a stationary and unoccupied train early yesterday morning. Police say 48-year-old Jesse Cobburn the third was killed in the crash and an unidentified co-worker has been hospitalized in stable conditions.  Six locomotives and three freight cars have been derailed in the collision.

12 Suspects Are Busted On Drug Charges

Federal, state and local police have teamed up to arrest 12 suspects for distributing marijuana and money laundering.  Officials say most of the arrests have been made in El Paso and Lubbock, Texas and Roswell, New Mexico.  Police have confiscated more than 100 pounds of marijuana and close to 100-thousand-dollars in cash as a result of the crackdown.  They've also seized 14 vehicles and 16 stolen firearms in the process.

Police Arrest Father In Baby's Death

Details are still very sketchy, but police are investigating the death of a three-month-old baby boy across the border in Juarez.  The boy's 16-year-old mother says her son woke up early Wednesday morning and wouldn't stop crying.  She says that's when her husband repeatedly hit the baby in the head.  21 year old Jesus Gomez Martinez has been arrested on murder charges.
