Teen Leaves His Court Papers about Auto Theft in Another Stolen Car
It's time for another game of New Mexico versus Florida!
Carnell Eugene Butler from Florida is facing charges after he drove a stolen car to police headquarters to pick up court papers for another auto theft he was involved in. Those documents were found in a third stolen vehicle.
The 18 year-old from St. Petersburg, Fla., is now charged with three separate stolen car cases. Police officers in Florida found a stolen Infiniti with Butler's court documents inside. The documents were from a June auto theft arrest.
Police had Butler come to pick up his papers the next week. When he walked in to retrieve the papers, he was arrested by a detective, who found car keys in his pocket. The car keys belonged to a Hyundai Sonata that had also been reported stolen. The car was found parked only a block away from the police station.
Butler was subsequently arrested for this crime as well. You can read more about it here.
