I was looking forward to the Taste of El Paso on November 14 and 15 at the El Paso Convention Center, but after eating at Garufa, I CAN'T WAIT!

The last time I was at Garufa's location it was an ice cream parlor, so I was blown away by the changes.  It is one of the most beautiful restaurants I have been to in El Paso.  The tables are set with white linens, but the restaurant doesn't feel stuffy, it's casual to fine dining. The service was impeccable.  The food, out of this world!

For Taste of El Paso, Garufa will be serving a small Ribeye steak with a delicious empanada, which is pictured above.

The ribeye is my favorite cut of meat, so I have had a few around town.  The ribeye I was served at Garufa was one of the best I have ever had.  It was not over-seasoned so the full flavor of the delicious cut came through.  It was also cooked to a perfect medium rare and was so tender I could have used my fork to slice it.  The empanada was a savory treat.  The pastry was light and flaky.  The filling was a delicious combination of ground beef, chopped green olives and hard boiled eggs seasoned to perfection.  It was a dining experience I hope to have again very soon, and luckily we can all enjoy Garufa at the Taste of El Paso.

Remember to visit the Taste of El Paso page for information on how to buy tickets now. There is limited seating this year and it promises to be a relaxed, elegant event.
